Trinidad: Fired Gov't Minister Taken To Hospital Instead Of Court

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – Former Minister of Public Administration, Marlene McDonald, who was due to appear in the Court this morning at 9a.m, has fallen ill and is now seeking treatment at the St. Clair Medical Centre.

The Express was told that McDonald was taken to hospital after complaining of dizziness and nausea.

She is currently waiting to see a doctor and is now expected to appear in the Port of Spain Mgistrates Court around 1.30pm, together with co-accused Michael Carew, Victor McEachrane, Wayne Anthony and Edgar Zephrine.

The five are being charged with several offenses of conspiracy to defraud the Government and offenses of money laundering.

McDonald is also charged with misbehaviour in public office. McDonald also fell ill last Thursday when she was arrested at her home at Marcacas, St Joseph.

A media release from the office of the Prime Minister has stated that Senator Garvin Simonette will be sworn in as the new Minister of Public Administration, at 2pm today at President’s House.
