Trinidad: Woman charged with $.5 million chicken fraud

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A Gasparillo businesswoman was granted $300,000 bail by a San Fernando Magistrate on Monday, charged with two counts of obtaining almost half a million dollars in chicken parts, using dishonoured cheques.

Karen Ali, 49, owner of Import Masters Ltd will reappear in court on June 18.

Ali, of Second Street, Harmony Hall, Gasparillo, is alleged to have issued two cheques amounting to $490,970 for two 40 feet long containers of chicken parts, from a Gulf View company, sometime between October 4 and October 18, 2016.
