The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Transformation, Forestry, Fisheries, Industry and Labour in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is currently hosting a mission team under a Technical Cooperation Project looking at creating an enabling environment for Agri-Insurance provision in three Caribbean countries including St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The mission which commenced on Thursday 17th May – Tuesday 22nd May 2018 focuses on the following:
- Identification, assessment and facilitation of public-private arrangements that enable the implementation of agricultural insurance mechanisms.
- Strengthening of the technical capacities of public institutions to support the design and implementation of appropriate and accessible risk transfer products.
- Strengthening of farmer understanding of agricultural insurance products, to ensure sufficient demand and uptake.
The Ministry will be hosting a farmers meeting on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ministry’s Conference Room.
The meeting will discuss a mechanism to facilitate the provision of agri-insurance in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
