Petit Bordel Woman Denied Bail, Remanded Into Custody

Margaret Smith a 35 years old domestic from the community of Petit Bordel is now before the Court on a charge of grievous bodily harm upon 21 years old Teresha Edwards of the same address on May 14th, 2018.

Smith is accused of arming herself with a cutlass and inflicted a severe cutlass wound to the left hand of Edwards during a fracas between both parties.

 As a result, the victim had to be taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital to get medical attention.

Following the incident, Smith was taken into police custody and was escorted to the Serious Offences Court on Friday, May 18th facing the charge which was laid indictable and was not allowed to enter a plea.

When the issue of bail arose the Police Prosecutor objected to bail stating that Edwards was still warded at the hospital and underwent one surgery and was due to undergo another one shortly.

The court also heard that the victim was at the time in critical condition.

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne, as a result, denied her bail and remanded her into custody until Friday, May 25th, 2018 to have a written report from medical officials with regards to Edwards’ condition.
