Brooklyn: Man suspected of knifing wife to death before slashing his own neck

(NY DAILY NEWS) – Cops investigating the gruesome deaths of a married couple in Brooklyn believe the man stabbed his wife to death before slashing his own throat, police sources said Wednesday.

Police was called to their apartment on Flatbush Ave. near Glenwood Road about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when the couple’s roommate returned home and found their blood-soaked bodies in the kitchen. The couple’s teenage daughter was not home at the time.
The 30-year-old woman had multiple stab wounds to her chest and the man had a deep laceration to his neck. Their names had not been released by Wednesday morning.
A small fire was set in the apartment and easily extinguished. It was not clear if it was related to the deaths.

Police believe the murder-suicide took place during an argument. The couple had been quarrelling in recent days, according to neighbours.
The roommate told cops the couple was last seen alive at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, a police source said.
Neighbor Merary Lopez said she called 911 after she saw the roommate bawling outside the building.

“She was crying, asking for help,” said the 29-year-old Lopez. “(She) was outside for a few hours and when she came back she opened the door and saw two people on the ground and a knife close to them and a lot of smoke.”
