While the public continues to be drawn to the big names in the industry, there are many young musicians who are making waves of their own on the entertainment scene as they jostle for future reign in the soca kingdom.
Vincentian Kezon “Kezzy” Lucas, a young sailor in the British Royal Navy has released what early reviewers claim to be a solid contribution to Vincy Mas 2018. This will serve as a platform to become a household name across the country in years to come.
However, for Kezzy, his release of “Mas Anyway” is appropriately titled as many Vincentians abroad are unable to come home as often as they may like to take part in the festival. This leaves them no choice to have ‘mas anyway we dey’.
Influenced by the creativity and energy of Soca Superstar Bunji Garlin, he believes that music is much more than for competition. He proffers that the rhythm and beats of the Caribbean are important parts of life itself and integral to our cultural identity.
For now, Kezzy is focused on his career in the Royal Navy but anticipates continuing this journey until one day he rules the Kingdom.
