Ken Sutherland a 24-year-old resident from the community of Magum in the Sandy Bay area has been busted by a member of the Rapid Response Unit for possession of a controlled drug.
Reports are that on May 5th, 2018 the Law Enforcement Officers was on mobile patrol on the North Windward public road and on reaching the Point Village, Sutherland was seen walking the public road with a Jan Sports bag on his shoulder and began to act suspiciously.
One of the officers is reported to have alighted the police transport and conducted a search on the bag which lead to the discovery of the marijuana.
As a result, he was arrested and charged for the offence with the controlled drug with intent to supply to another.
Sutherland was on Monday, May 7th escorted to the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne facing the charge when he entered a plea of guilty.
A fine of $4,500 was imposed upon him. $1,000 was to be paid forthwith or he will face 8 months imprisonment, the balance is to be paid by July 16th failing which he will face a one-year jail sentence.
