Former Radio Announcer of Star Radio, Franklyn “Frankie” Springer, has sought legal advice with a view to bringing a defamation suit against WE FM 99.9, as well as its Morning Show Announcer, Donnie “Prince” Collins.
This decision Springer says, was made following Mr Collins’ radio commentary on Monday 7th May 2018 on his WE FM early morning program.
Mr Springer told News 784 that the comments made by Mr Collins were highly “inflammatory” and of a demeaning nature. This, Springer says, disturbed him greatly.
Springer said that Mr Collins’ comments have the potential to tarnish his reputation with the possibility of having “an adverse and negative impact concerning perspective clients for his recently launched business.
Springer said that he was about to execute an aggressive marketing campaign to promote his business “Frankie’s Touch”, an entity specializing in brand promotions as well as hosting for various events.
Springer further told News 784 that “it was unfortunate that we now live in a society that is laced with: judgementalism, maliciousness and just simply people meddling in the affairs of others”.
He further stated that he is blessed to have a small circle of supportive and trusted friends who provided guidance when needs be.
He said that while in St. Vincent and the Grenadines there is Freedom of Press, Journalists must be guided by the professional code of ethics and for those who choose not to, then they will have to “pay for their mouths”.
