TRINIDAD: Dad, son chopped as family's cars stolen

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A father and son were chopped and robbed by thieves during the pre-dawn hours on Tuesday.

The 62-year-old man and his 32-year-old son are at hospital being treated for chop wounds to the head and back.

The elder man’s wife was not harmed. The attack happened in La Romaine.

At around 2 a.m. the family was asleep when they were confronted by three men armed with cutlasses.

The criminals tied up the family and chopped the man and his son as they demanded valuables.

The thieves ransacked the house and stole $3,000, gold and diamond jewellery, cell phones and a television.

They packed the loot into the family’s white Toyota Corolla PCT 8756 and white Kia Sportage PDC 9991 and drove off.

Officers of the San Fernando CID responded and an all-points bulletin was issued for the vehicles.

The victims were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.
