49 year old Lennie Baynes from Park Hill has been ordered to face the judge and jury at the next practical sitting of the Criminal Session on five separate charges of attempted murder upon 35 year old Bernadette and her 17 years old daughter Keneisha Sutherland of Belleview, unlawful and malicious wounding upon Darwin Pope of Mt. Grennan along with aggravated burglary and damage to property of one sash window of Sutherlands’ home on October 8ther, 2017.
The order to commit Baynes to stand trial was given by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at the conclusion of a Preliminary Inquiry to determine whether cases were made out for Baynes to answer on the charges before the High Court.
Baynes is accused of going to the home of the Sutherlands’ at Belleview on the date in question where he gained entry via an opened window by placing a ladder under the window and being armed with a cutlass he proceeded to chop Sutherland’s daughter on her hand.
Pope received a chop wound to one of his legs and then he proceeded to attack Sutherland in her bedroom chopping her to her forehead, hands, feet and other parts of her body.
All the victims were hospitalized at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing injuries.
