(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – POLICE are searching for a secondary schoolboy who raped a female schoolmate on the compound of a secondary school in north Trinidad on Tuesday.
After the attack, the suspect fled the premises and went into hiding.
The victim, a 15-year-old schoolgirl, reported that she was walking to the washroom facilities when she was accosted by the suspect.
He allegedly covered her mouth, removed her skirt then sexually assaulted her.
The suspect ran out of the facilities and disappeared.
The schoolgirl reported the incident to a teacher, and police officers were contacted.
Sgt Moreau and others of the Child Protection Unit responded, and the girl was taken for a medical examination by a district medical officer.
Investigators recorded a statement from the victim, who gave a detailed description of the suspect, whom she had known.
Ministry of Education’s Student Support Services officers was expected to visit the school this week and provide counselling to the children.
