Law Enforcement Officers at Questelles have arrested and charged Quincy Gurley for two separate offences of unlawful and malicious wounding upon Police Constable Sylvanus Baptiste and issuing threats to the officer at Lower Questelles on April 15th, 2018.
Reports are that on the date in question Constable Baptiste was returning from the Questelles beach when he saw Gurley involved in an altercation with his former common-law-wife.
The officer reportedly intervened and as a result, was struck in the face with a flower pot by Gurley following which he went to the public road and issue threats.
Gurley appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate Court on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 before Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett and entered guilty pleas.
However, the Senior Magistrate disclosed that the complainant mother is his clerk at the Magistrates Court and as a result, he transferred the matter to the Serious Offences Court to be heard.
When Gurley re-appeared in Court on Wednesday, April 18th before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne a fine of six hundred dollars was imposed upon him to be paid by April 30th, 2018 or face a three months jail term.
He was also ordered to pay Baptiste compensation in the sum of $250.00 by the same date failing which he will be jailed for one month.
Gurley was also placed on a bond to keep the peace for the next six months in the sum of $900.00, if he breaks the bond the sum becomes payable immediately if he is unable to pay he will have to spend six months at the Belle Isle Correctional Centre.
