Residents Concerned About White Goods Pile-Up

Residents in the area known as Long Wall on the outskirts of capital Kingstown say they are very concerned about a build-up of carelessly discarded white goods that has become an eyesore and a potential health hazard.

These white goods can be found at the junction which leads to Cane Garden and the turn off back into the city at Upper Middle Street.

Residents told News784 that this pile-up has been there for almost a year and they had already reported the matter to the necessary authorities, but to no avail.

The mountain of discarded white goods includes: a section of a fibreglass boat, cardboard barrels, old stoves, old deep freeze units, old refrigerators, old televisions, and even old couches.

Residents claim that these white goods were either being stored there or may have been dumped in the yard on which stands an abandoned and almost crumbling structure.

The Long Wall residents told News784 that what has emerged since the dumping was a large infestation of rats, large and small, along with cockroaches and other vermin.

They disgruntled residents told News784 that they hope with another medium airing their health concerns, something would be done swiftly to rectify the situation.
