The Backyard Organic Farming Project was implemented by the Richmond Vale Academy in the North Leeward Community to help promote food security and sustainability.
Students attending the school told News784 that the program is also about making the Vincentian farmers a little less vulnerable while improving their farming techniques.
A British born student currently attending the academy told News784 that they are also visiting families with backyards that can be utilised as gardens converting the land into an agricultural system, different types of crops are being planted together.
No chemicals or oil-based products are used in the growing of the crops.
The school have been demonstrating the use of Organic pest management techniques, organic fertilizer application, soil and water management including conservation and rainwater harvesting to the residence of North Leeward.
