SVG Gets Modern Medical Diagnostic Centre

By Ernesto Cooke – St Vincent now has its own medical diagnostic centre as the thrust towards improved healthcare continues.

Minister of Health Luke Browne told News784 on Thursday that, it is an exciting time for the health sector.

“As I speak to you, we are expecting to receive a report from the first person who was treated, a test case, well, who received dialysis out at the modern medical complex”.

Browne said that the complex will be open shortly, the project has missed several opening dates.

The minister noted that the facility will be a monumental breakthrough, being able to do things which were hither too not possible.

“ We want you to know, anyone that have kidney diseases and affected by kidney failure, it does not mean that you have a death sentence, there is hope”.

The Georgetown Hospital is a Smart Hospital, the first Smart Hospital in the OECS with a Modern Medical Complex.

The Centre was constructed at the cost of over $20 million EC by the Governments of Cuba and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Complex will be made up of a surgical, Dialysis and outpatient units.

Services that will be provided include Renal Dialysis for adults and children, Intensive Care, Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Ultrasound, Laboratory and General Medical and Surgical Consultations.
