In a recording from September 2017, minister of Finance Camilo Gonsalves would have alluded to having a mental health solution for issues that former model Yugge Farrell was having when interviewed by Dwight Bing Joesph.
At that time Joesph had inquired of Gonsalves if he knew about videos on the social media platform Instagram in which Farrell had implicated him.
Gonsalves at that time said, “ My view is, I hope there is a mental health solution and not a law enforcement one”.
Farrell returned to the courtroom today, with sitting magistrate Rickie Burnett presiding. On January 5th, 2018, Farrell was taken to the Mental Health Centre following a court order by then Magistrate Bertie Pompey.
At her first appearance she was charged that on Thursday, January 4 at Granby Street, Kingstown, she did cause a breach of the peace by using abusive language to Karen Duncan-Gonsalves of Prospect, accosting the defendant and referring to her in an outburst: “You dirty b**ch.”
She was given two weeks at the Mental Health Centre for evaluation.
Last year, Minister Gonsalves said he was aware of postings on social media platform, Instagram, made by Farrell, referring not only to him but to others. Gonsalves says that she (Farrell) appears to have a fixation on him.
“ I have read some of them and I am concerned about some of the things that are made, and I think we should have a mental health solution in that regard”.
At her reappearance on Monday in court, Farrell, when called to the stand, made several illogical utterances.
Both the Prosecution and Defence made submissions regarding an evaluation report from the Mental Health facility, Magistrate Burnett will now make a determination following the court’s acceptance of that report.
In a video posted on FaceBook by Colin Graham, a woman who claims to be the sister of Yuggie Farrell said, she does not understand why her sister Yugge had to be sent back to the Mental Health Centre.
“ Because why?” the woman said, “…because she talk the truth? Because of way going on? This is unfair! I don’t care! Allyuh wah say I crazy? Carry me mental home too let me meet she! Let the craziness run in the family! This is sh*t…high class sh*t!”
When quizzed, the emotional woman continued by saying, “My sister is not crazy….my sister have a mental health issue, yes, but she is not crazy! I could tell all ah you that!”
When asked what kind of mental illness Farrell suffered, her sister swiftly quipped: “That is personal, but ah know for a fact she’s not crazy…”
Farrell has been sent back to the Mental Health Centre, and is scheduled to reappear in Court next Monday, January 29, 2018.
