(NY DAILY NEWS) -Oprah Winfrey would defeat President Trump by 10 percentage points if the election were held now, a new poll released Wednesday shows, but there’s still a sizable crowd of undecideds.
Forty-eight percent of likely voters would favor Winfrey, while 38 percent said they would choose Trump, according to a survey taken by conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports.
But 14 percent said they are undecided.
The poll was conducted on Monday and Tuesday after Winfrey gave a stirring speech at the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles and speculation quickly built that she might launch a White House run in 2020.
According to the poll, Winfrey has the support of 76 percent of Democrats, 22 percent of Republicans and 44 percent of voters not affiliated with either party.
Trump has the backing of 66 percent of Republicans, 12 percent of Democrats and 38 percent of unaffiliated voters.
The poll shows that 12 percent of both Republicans and Democrats are undecided. Nineteen percent of unaffiliated voters aren’t sure which candidate they would support.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted by telephone and online by Rasmussen Reports. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
