Chauncey Woman Pleads Guilty To Marijuana Possession

A fine of two thousand dollars was on Monday, December 4th, imposed by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne at the Serious Offences Court upon Camolita Charles a 53 years old resident of Chauncey when she appeared in Court and pleaded guilty to having in her possession 825gms of marijuana at the Grenadines Wharf on Friday, December 1st, 2017.

She was ordered to pay $1,000.00 forthwith or face 6 months in prison.  The balance is to be paid by December 15th, 2017 in default and additional six months jail term will be imposed.

Charles was on the date in question intercepted by Police Officers who were on duty and requested a search on a cardboard box that she had in her possession at the time it was during such time that the marijuana was discovered.

When asked by the Magistrate what she had to say why she should not be sent to prison for the crime, Charles said that she went to the mountain to plant some garlic during which time she saw a male with the illegal substance and request some to sent to her common-law husband in one of the Grenadines Island.
