Former SVG Footballer Reprimanded And Discharged

Verbin Sutherland at 51 years old former national footballer and a resident of Edinboro who was slapped with three separate charges of marijuana possession after the drugs were discovered at his home on January 13th, 2017 walked out of the Serious Offences Court on Thursday, November 16th, 2017.

Sutherland was reprimanded and discharged on one of the charges and the Prosecutor withdrew the two other charges to which Sutherland maintained his innocence.

Sutherland was arrested and charged for the offences after the police executed a search warrant at his home

In mitigation Defense Counsel Ronald Marks stated that his client has represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a footballer, also that he is a Rastafarian and the drugs were for his personal use.  He requested that the Court be lenient on his client.

Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpeche agreed with the Defense Counsel and requested that the Court exercise leniency.
