Former Police Officer Under Investigation

A former member of the local constabulary who was recently appointed as a bailiff at the Magistrate Court here will not be able to carry out his duties as of November 7th, 2017 pending the outcome of investigations into a report of misappropriation of funds collected and was not paid over to the Magistrate’s office located at Paul’s Avenue in Kingstown.

Donald Soleyn knew of his fate on Thursday November 9th, when he was presented with a letter of suspension by a senior employee which was signed by the Chief Magistrate Rechanne Bowne.

The letter was also copied to the Directors of Public Prosecutor Collin Williams and also the Public Service Commission.

Reports indicate that the matter has been referred to the Major Crime Unit which is presently carrying out investigations into the matter.
