An Ohio man accused in the rape and murder of a 13-month-old girl was captured early Friday in Pennsylvania after being on the run for three weeks.
Joshua Gurto was busted in the Pittsburgh area at approximately 1:30 a.m. and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
Little Sereniti Jazzlynn-Sky Blankenship-Sutley was found unresponsive at an apartment in Conneaut, Ohio, on Oct. 7. She had blunt-force injuries to her head and body, and died at a hospital.
The child was the daughter of Gurto’s girlfriend, according to reports. Aggravated murder and rape charges were filed against the 37-year-old Gurto earlier this month.
Gurto was apprehended at a gas station in Franklin Park. He was wearing camouflage and had a backpack with him.
The suspect had maps of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and was in possession of a knife when he was arrested, authorities said Friday.
The fugitive had been spotted in Ohio Township at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to KDKA.
A $5,000 reward had been offered for information leading to Gurto’s capture.
