29-year-old Keith Lewis a resident from the village of Sayers in Marriaqua has been ordered to pay compensation of $1,000.00 by January 31st, 2018 in default a 6 months jail term will be imposed. He was also placed on a $2,500.00 bond for one year. If the bond is broken he will have to pay the $2,500.00 forthwith or face a one-year jail term.
The compensation and bond were handed down on Monday, October 16th, 2017 by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne after he was convicted on a charge of unlawful and malicious wounding upon Brenton Carr on September 1st, 2017 at Sayers.
Carr sustained cutlass injuries to his right hand and forehead by Lewis who armed himself with a cutlass and inflicted same.
After the sentence was passed upon Lewis he informed the Chief Magistrate Browne that Carr had sent threats to him stating that he will go missing any time and no one will find a body. As a result, the Magistrate instructed him to report the matter to the Central Police Station based on what has been happening in this society in recent times
