A Minnesota elementary school teacher and his husband — who died in a murder-suicide — allegedly sexually abused eight boys over several years, court documents allege.
South St. Paul teacher Aric Babbitt, 40, and Matthew Deyo were under investigation after a 16-year-old boy and his parents reported to police about “an ongoing sexual relationship” between the teen and the couple, according to court records obtained by The St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The couple was found dead on Aug. 25 on an island thousands of miles away in Washington state. Deyo, 36, fatally shot Babbitt before taking his own life, an autopsy report stated.
St. Paul Police Commander Phil Oeffling said Tuesday the investigation is now closed, citing that the tragedy has hit everyone involved.
Neither Babbitt nor Deyo were charged in relation to the allegations.
