Until 6:00 pm Tomorrow, Thursday 8th December 2016
issued by The Barbados Meteorological Services
at 6:00 p.m Thursday 22nd December 2016.
A trough system located across the island chain generated cloudy to overcast skies, moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain, thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds across the southern Windward Islands during the day.
Most of the significant convection during the day occurred east of the island chain and over open water. However, forecast models indicate that deteriorating conditions are likely across St. Vincent and the Grenadines during tonight and early tomorrow. Rainfall accumulations of at least 75 to 100 mm (3 to 4 inches) are possible.
Due to the already saturated nature of the soils, a Flood –Watch has been issued and will remain in effect until 12 pm tomorrow, Friday 23rd December.
Residents living in areas prone to landslides and flooding should continue to exercise caution and be on the alert.
A Flood-Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding. It does not mean that flooding will occur but that it is possible.
This Watch will be updated as necessary.
The Barbados Meteorological Services and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Office will continue to monitor the situation and provided the necessary updates.
