Number of new HIV infections not declining in St Vincent

Dr. Simone Keizer-Beache, Chief Medical Officer,  says Progress is being made in reducing the spread of HIV and AIDS in St Vincent.

Dr. Keizer Beache expressed optimism while she addressed a Rally hosted by the Ministry of Health on Friday,  as part of activities to mark World AIDS Day.

She noted that countries worldwide have committed to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic by the year 2030, as part of the Sustainable Development Goals.

She, however, stated that the number of new HIV infections is not declining among adults; with young women particularly at risk of becoming HIV Positive.

The March and Rally were organized by the AIDS Secretariat in the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment.

World Aids Day was observed  under the theme:Hands Up For HIV Prevention”
