General Secretary of the National Workers Movement the NWM, Noel Jackson, says that his union has been having talks with the management of the Ottley Hall Shipyard to solve the problems of payments owed to the workers.

Jackson said that the company has promised payment, but that it needs time since it will be scaling back operations.

Jackson admitted that payments have been made to workers but not on a timely basis, with one worker demonstrating a bounced cheque of $1000, a small fraction of his salary.

The company is said to be facing financial problems and workers have accused the company of deducting monies from their salaries and not handing over any to the relevant authorities such as the NIS.
