Vincentian Basketball Player Brendon Smart Off On Scholarship

Another young Vincentian is set to make their mark on the international sporting scene.

Brendon Smart of South Rivers left the island on Tuesday 18th October to take up a basketball scholarship at the Chien Hsin University of Science and Technology in Taiwan.

Smart will for the next four years  pursue an educational opportunity at that institution while seeking to advance his skills in basketball.

Brendon scholarship was made possible through the efforts of St Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation current president Wayne Williams and fellow countryman Craig Lee Sam, who is coaching in Taiwan.

A few years ago his brother Akeme Smart went off on a similar scholarship and is currently playing professionally in Romania.

While a student at the George Stephens Secondary School, Brendon made a name for himself in basketball and volleyball competitions, earning accolades and titles both for himself and his school.

Smart has in the past represented St Vincent in regional games at the high school level.
