Preliminary rounds of the National Road Tennis Competition started in Layou on Wednesday. The female category was a straight final event, which saw Unica Velox defeating Keisha Morgan 21-7, 21-14.
The men’s competition, however, was a more competitive event. Christroy John beat Dustin Lewis 21-8, 21-13. National Goalkeeper Lemus Christopher, won over Judge Samuel 21-19, 20-22, 21-18. Best Deshong fell to Kamal Lynch 18-21, 5-21.
Wollis Christopher beat John Cyrus 15-21, 21-18, 21-19.The semi-finals saw Lemus Christopher having an easy entry into the final after Wollis Christopher defaulted.
Christroy John booked his final spot by beating Kamal Lynch 22-20, 19-21, 21-14. After the final Christopher emerged victorious, winning 21-13, 19-21, 21-17.
Both Lemus Christopher and Christroy John, along with Unica Velox, will advance to the national finals to be played at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex next Thursday, October 13, from 5 p.m.
