Severe weather Headed For The Southern Windward Islands

A strong tropical wave accompanied by an area of low pressure centered along the wave axis near 9N 46W is now located about 950 miles east of the Windward Islands.

The system is moving towards the west-northwest at about 23 to 29 mph/37 to 47 km/h, Environmental conditions are conducive for some gradual development over the next 24 – 36 hours, and a tropical depression could form by the time the system approaches islands.

The St Vincent Meteorological Office says on its present track the system is expected to be in the vicinity of St. Vincent and the Grenadines by late Tuesday or Wednesday.

Regardless of development some moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected to spread across the island.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Office says it will continue to monitor the development and will issue further statements on its progress during the next few days.

Residents and mariners should monitor the progress of this system.
