Pass Rate For Cape Down From 89.42 In 2015 To 87.10 In 2016

St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded a slight decrease in the overall pass rate for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams this year.

According to a release from the Ministry of Education, Tuesday 16th, the 2016 pass rate was 87.10, down from the 89.42 percent recorded in 2015.

“This year’s results show that high pass rates have been maintained in most subjects taken” – the release stated.

Grades one to five were obtained in 1,519 subject sittings.


The CAPE candidate entry for 2016 was 591, of whom 526 were from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College and 65 private candidates.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College sat 1,744 examinations in 20 different subject areas.

Several subject areas for CAPE 2016 recorded 100 percent pass rates.

These subject areas are; Caribbean studies Unit 1, Computer Science Unit 2, Environmental Science unit 1, French Unit 1&2, Physical Education & Sport Unit 1&2 and Pure Mathematics Unit 2.
