The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is finalizing arrangements to welcome medical professionals from the Taiwan Changhua Christian Hospital (CCH) to our shores.
The team will be here from May 22 to June 11, and will represent the first medical team to visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines, this year. This is, however, the ninth visit of medical professionals from the CCH to this country since 2010.
The team will be headed by Dr. Hsiao (shou) Ling Kao, and will include a general practitioner and breast surgeon, an emergency medicine doctor, a Chinese medicine doctor, a dentist and two nurses.
The visit will see the team being supported by and working closely with medical staff and colleagues of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
While here, the team will engage in outreach to local communities, through the provision of necessary medical services to Vincentians.
Additionally, Dr. Shou-Tung Chen, one of the top surgeons on breast cancer in Taiwan, will present two lectures to the medical staff at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and other local clinics.
Two medical practitioners, a senior nurse and an administrator are expected to visit the Taiwan Changhua Christian Hospital later this year to participate in specific training programs.
