The Inland Revenue Department is encouraging Tax-Payers to file their returns before the March 31st deadline.

Speaking to WEFM News this morning, Deputy Comptroller at the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Gwyneth Martin, noted that persons who are unable to visit the office, can file their income tax returns electronically.

Ms. Martin said that e-filing was introduced here in 2012, and there are just over 4,000 users of the e-filing system.

Meanwhile, Ms. Martin says there are varying penalties for the late filing of tax returns, including $20 per month late fee.

Personal Income tax returns are to be filed by the 31st of March 2016. Businesses whose financial year ended December 31st are also expected to file by that date.
