(Dailymail.co.uk)  Scientists have long advocated that sleeping naked is good for your health.

And now men are being urged to go commando in bed as it could boost their chances of becoming a father.

The human body is designed to decrease in temperature during sleep, and not only does sleeping in the nude keep you comfortable through the night, but it determines when your body is ready to fall asleep and when it is time to wake up.

And experts now say that men wearing underpants for bed can affect the quality of their sperm as the material makes their crotch too warm.

This means they advise that for men to boost their fertility, they should go commando at night.

Dr Brian Steixner, director of the Institute for Men’s Health at Jersey Urology Group told The Sun: ‘Your nether regions need to be just the right temperature in order to optimise sperm production.

‘More bacteria makes for a higher likelihood that any chafed or irritated skin down there becomes infected.’

Meanwhile it has long been known that sleeping naked lowers your body temperature, which helps stops you from waking up in the middle of the night.

A lowered body temperature at night has also been found to help you burn calories while you sleep. For women, it helps prevent bacterial infections such as yeast infections.

And it increases a man’s sperm production by keeping his scrotum at a specific temperature. When couples sleep naked, the skin-to-skin contact releases oxytocin in brain, also known as the ‘love hormone’.

This strengthens their emotional bond and and increases trust within the relationship. This type of contact has also been found to boost your immune system, steady cortisol levels and lower blood pressure.
