Arianna Goberdhan, 27, was discovered by Durham Regional Police officers responding to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Winville Road in Pickering at around 9:45 p.m.
Police said the body showed obvious signs of violence ad it was later revealed that her death was caused by sharp force trauma.
Goberdhan’s unborn baby did not survive. Her husband of six months, Nicholas Tyler Baig, was apprehended at a residence in Markham Saturday evening and charged with second-degree murder.
His black 2015 Infinity was also seized by police. Baig, 25, was denied bail on Sunday and police upgraded the charge to first-degree murder Thursday following his second court appearance.
There were reports that police are considering the possibility of laying additional charges against Baig in the unborn baby’s death.
The nine-month pregnant woman found dead in a house in Ontario, Canada last Friday was Trinidadian according to the Trinidad Express (cbc.ca).
